Definition of a Sales Person – One whose main activity is selling a product, service, or investment.
Most people when starting a Network Marketing home-based business are led to believe that they are taking on a consultative approach and not a sales approach. Invite all your friends, family, co-workers and associates to look at your product, service, or investment. And when a lack of interest is shown most network marketers do one of two things :
- Quit and blame their failure on the product.
- Press harder and try to sale a product, service, or investment that is not desired from the prospect.
Definition of a Consultant – one who gives expert advise | One who consults another. A consultant is an individual who possesses special knowledge or skills and provides that expertise to a client for a fee.
Ask yourself these questions:
- How do I feel when someone is trying to sale me something? ( car, furniture, cosmetics, health products, you name it ! )
- How do I feel when I am trying to buy something?
There are two different emotional states that a person goes through. One makes you open minded, and the other makes you closed minded. One invites suggestion, and the other rejects suggestion. When a person is being sold something that they did not request, they tend to feel like they are not in control of the process, rather the salesman is taking control. This is quite different from when a person is buying something they want. The perception then changes to the buyer feeling in control of the process.
Humans have the remarkable ability to get exactly what they must have. But there is a difference between a “must” and a “want.” When a person is open to suggestion, they tend to find what they want. Someone once said, Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become.
